Seafood$$

For locals a timeless favourite that's seen them through anniversaries, romances and work dos for almost 30 years. For visitors, a must on the to-do list. With polish and charm, Barnacle Bill's has set a standard recognised at every sitting by its faithful public. Even during financial rough seas, they've sailed through with loyal patronage. Nab a seat outside unless you need aircon, although there's usually a sea breeze. Seafood being the whole point, done so well and with such variety, there's little reason to look elsewhere, but options are there. An entree of scallops; with pork belly in a buttery Pernod and shallot sauce, is lusciously rich. Add salad and it would satisfy as a main. Spice lovers shouldn't overlook the seafood jambalaya, which delivers the promised heat without overdoing it. Proper care is taken with children's meals, so often not recognised as the customers of tomorrow. Desserts are classic and perfect with profiteroles both light and gorgeously gooey.
