French$$

First impressions are of a Zen garden - a cool, clean space with a water view, devoid of ornamentation, apart from strategically placed bamboo poles. There are definite traits of both cuisines here, and while some might consider it a bizarre hybrid, if you compare the perfection demanded in both French and Japanese cuisines, it seems less of a mismatch. Naturally, presentation is exquisite - precision is everything, on the plate and at the table. Service is equally meticulous. You may find yourself weighing up whether a certain dish is bland or just subtle, but the overall impression is clean and light, without much of the richness of traditional French cuisine. Grilled Tasmanian salmon with a sauce of olives, tomato, caper and herbs, served with steamed vegetables is a healthy dining out option. M Yogo prides itself on its sweet offerings, with good reason. The green tea opera cake, a joconde sponge made with Japanese green tea and chocolate ganache, is legendary.
