Sandwich freaks: take a note. It's a flush season for hand-held food.

Shane Delia's southside Biggie Smalls outpost launches this week at 36 Chapel Street, Windsor. The menu is similar to the northern outlets: snack packs, puffy kebabs ("kbabs") filled with flaxseed falafel, lamb or fried chicken, all served with tinnies, gin and juice and '90s hip-hop. But here there's a new sheriff of hangover specials: a pork and prawn siu mai stuffed wrap.

At 10 Bourke Street, the European Group's unsurprisingly beautiful 24-7 Butcher's Diner has also opened. The all-day menu is impressively vast and yakitori and steaks at 4am are certainly appealing for novelty, but the sandwiches – chilli dogs frilled with jalapenos; a blood sausage and devilled egg breakfast roll, and a steak sandwich featuring quality cuts, will be a major draw.

And Fatto, the Italian eatery joined at the hip to Hamer Hall, has launched a new deli section. Wedged between the bar and restaurant, the counter is specialising in charcuterie, panini and salads to eat in, or take away (useful for anyone going to the pop-up Shakespeare Globe). Every Wednesday during October panini are two for the price of one.
