Cattivo

Italian

Cattivo is beloved around this eastern neck of the woods. Its fitout is clean and sparse: fresh white walls, a slate-grey ceiling twinkling with downlights; and its food and single-origin Genovese coffee is consistently good. The counter cabinet is stocked with the day's bake: arancini, crusty filled baguettes and big wedges of schiacciata, an eggy spinach and ricotta pie with a hint of nutmeg. Chicken dumpling soup is a full-bodied flavoursome broth, bobbing with a generous serve of lemony dumplings, and made-here cakes, like the sticky, moist orange option, keep it sweet. Now opening for budget-busting dinners, serving a handful of mains, there's even more Cattivo to love.
