Rasa's walls are paintbox bright, the big-bellied Buddha statue looks giddy with glee and the welcome is as warm as a bear hug. Staff will decode the more unusual menu items, such as long, thin otak-otak (Malaysian-style fishcakes), which come wrapped in banana leaves with sides of spicy pickled veg and home-made sweet chilli sauce. Lemongrass, tamarind and kaffir lime are used to maximum effect in 'KB calamari', the Kota Kinabalu-inspired dish featuring tender squid cooked in a thick, finger-lickin'-good marinade. Classics such as char kwai teow, beef rendang and curry laksa are also reliably delicious.
