Albee's Kitchen

Malaysian

Albee's has the charm and acoustics of a public pool, with white tiles covering the walls and decoration restricted to some aged Tourism Malaysia posters. Few notice, however, as they're transfixed by the fluttering A4 signs advertising a range of cheap Malaysian and Chinese dishes. The lohbak is excellent, a seafood-and-pork roll wrapped in tofu skin with a sharp chilli sauce. Or try the mee rebus, the bak kut teh (herb soup) or the sambal petai prawns, with plenty of almond-shaped green beans. Service is perfunctory, and it's not a place to linger, but it's a reliable go-to for authentic Malaysian with a strong local following.
