El Loco

It's hard to miss Merivale's take on the Mexican taqueria, despite being hidden behind old rocker pub, the Excelsior. And like its name, El Loco is loud, brash and doesn't care if you don't get it. Arrive early to bag a table, then order tacos, quesadillas and daily specials from the bar - hot dogs are more a wonder of presentation than flavour, but tacos hit the spot, and the quesadilla comes out on top of the pecking order, filled with oozy soft cheese, lamb and jalepenos. Finish with churros, or have a go at sampling each of the 42 tequilas on offer, and join in the Mexican madness.
