Exchange Hotel

Contemporary$$

This heritage-listed icon is eclectic, snug and swanky. Changes are afoot, with new menus for the Balcony Bar and the fine-dining room, and on the airy upstairs balcony on a Sunday lunch timeyou get the best of all worlds with a mash-up of both menus. A starter of smoked ham terrine was a little too subtle on smoke, but is nice with the eye-watering mustard (and possibly the world’s smallest pickles). Fish of the day is a beautifully cooked tuna steak with a zingy salad, and the $18 ‘trad’ pork roast with vegies is simple and tasty. Caramelised broccoli with almonds and goat’s cheese is a stylish accompaniment.
