Fujiyama

Japanese$$

You can't expect standard-issue Japanese fare at an eatery in an area better known for its pasta twirls and gelato scoops. Here, the menu's eccentric cast list includes the 'crazy boy roll', 'prawn killer sushi' and 'Fujiyama mushroom mountain'. A geography teacher might question the description of the mushroom 'mountain' - it's really a low-lying structure of flat mushroom halves - but its unlikely pairing with creamy feta and a tangy-sweet salad deserves a good grade. Also worth a good score is the moreish black horenso. Decorative touches such as the ginkgo-print crockery also win points. Outside, the courtyard pictures of Mount Fuji pay tribute to the landmark the restaurant is named after.
