Greengate Hotel

Good Food hat15.5/20

Contemporary$$

This art deco gem presents two dining options - a bar bistro and the Portico restaurant. The latter offers table service (with starched linen tablecloths) for comparatively low prices. Its semi-circular dining room is well arranged, feeling both spacious and intimate. Confit of duck leg and breast on Asian greens is a stunning marriage of East and West. Two generous slabs of grilled fish of the day (silver dory), elegantly presented with chips and a sophisticated salad, satisfy stomach and senses, as does the dessert: stacked logs of poached rhubarb with pistachio praline and a creme brulee.
