Part coffee lab and part cafe, this is a good place for coffee nerds to seek out (it's down the laneway) and then geek out over brewing techniques and barista gadgetry, with Synesso espresso and siphon, including a Sumatran Lintong that has a deeply smoky, almost peppery flavour ($3.50). The menu is limited to pleasant enough cafe fare (ham and cheese toasties, bacon and egg rolls, pancakes, BLATs and burgers), but the coffee high will have you levitating out the building. Add beer bottles for water, enamel plates and a twirly mo logo stamped on anything to go, and you've got a cup of Joe with style.
