Locals flock to this small, colourful restaurant for its happy, welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and honest, unpretentious, cooking. Even with a blindfolded stab at the menu you'd almost certainly be happy with your choice. The zucchini puffs and grilled spicy mushrooms are ever-popular starters, but don't overlook the smoky flavour of superbly char-grilled calamari on a salad of green olives, cashews, pomegranate, coriander and rocket, with warm Turkish bread to mop up the juices. The char-grill features again in thin slices of spiced veal served on rosemary chips and baby spinach and doused with a tangy, lemony mustard sauce, while pan-seared blue eye on crushed kipfler potatoes surrounded by a sea of sorrel sauce tastes as good as it looks. From the blackboard dessert menu, a salad of 'Turkish fruits' is as pretty as a picture: fresh figs, pomegranate, dates, watermelon and mint, with chai masala custard ice-cream and a tuft of fairytale Persian pashmak on top.
