Maharaja's Haveli

Indian$$

Three garishly coloured Maharajahs balefully survey the vast dining room from gilded frames, daring the diner to fault food or service. Happily neither can be faulted. Try samunder de moti, a sizzling plate of chunks of spice-crusted fish cooked in the tandoor with a green chilli and mint chutney side sauce. Duck mouli has bite-size pieces of duck in a slightly sweet cashew nut and dry coconut puree. Potato dices and florets of cauliflower are cooked with fenugreek leaves in aloo gobi methi masala. Entry is via a cavernous cafe where you can snack on Indian street food or retire post dinner for sweets and chai.
