Malaysian

The owners of Mamak may have opened two further outlets - including one in Melbourne - since first welcoming customers in 2007 but their flagship Chinatown venture has lost none of its vibrancy, fun or authenticity. Their Malay street-style food is well worth the queue, from the famous flaky roti (sweet or savoury) to fiery curries that kick your tastebuds into gear. It's hard to go past the kari ayam - a rich chicken curry cooked with potatoes - but the mee goreng noodles and stir-fried sambal prawns all deserve honourable mentions. Also at Chatswood.
