Contemporary

There's a lot of heart at Mars Hill. There's also local art for sale, troubadours, vego options on the menu and a chill room. If this all sounds a bit Byron Bay community arts centre-ish that's because it is, and Parramatta's fringe-dwellers are the better for it. And besides, the coffee's good. A Synesso pumps out an exclusive Jumping Llama blend with enough bittersweetness to give kick to a caffe latte ($3.50). Food is none too flash, and we question wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli being served in an establishment that does not race greyhounds on weekends, but still, that heart? It's in the right place.
