Contemporary

The baskets hanging from the ceiling, the wonderful cheeses, prosciutto, olives and breads, the shady seats under the trees outside this has to be one of the buzziest corner shops in the city, from the little 'salve' salutation on the sign at the door to the fluent Italian steaming out of the kitchen to the rear. Allow plenty of time for queuing, and for the slightly aggressive tussle for a seat at the window or on the street (prime Paddington property), then hit the seriously good Allpress caffe latte ($3.30) before a little prosciutto roll or a colourful Mediterranean antipasti platter.
