Though the former Pho Bac Hai Duong has moved a few doors down and glammed up slightly with a new name, a lick of red paint and wooden tables in place of white plastic tablecloths, the menu remains reassuringly the same. There are 143 items to choose from, but the real star is the pho - steaming bowls of star anise-scented broth brimming with noodles and razor-thin slices of beef. Beyond the soup, there's still plenty to satisfy. Try the crisp savoury pancake filled with prawns or moist shredded pork served meatloaf-style on 'broken' (milled) rice, then wash it down with a sweet, custardy milk and soda with egg yolk.
