The Carrington

Contemporary$$

The Carrington is a souped-up corner pub where you can feast on Spanish delicacies, Surry Hills-style, in a restaurant out back. The open kitchen with its Moorish-tiled wall sends out cauliflower croquettes, curried pea and goat-filled empanadas (OK, maybe not quite Spanish), beef cheek, and lamb and chorizo sausage served with barley. Laidback, friendly and helpful staff keep the courses coming and help make a visit here a good night out. For food with a feel that’s a little closer to old Sydney, the front bar, with its mishmash of wall coverings (some might call them grubby), offers burgers, pie floaters and salads.
