Uighur Cuisine

Asian$$

While Mary was famous for her little lamb, this halal restaurant's menu has a big lamb, which they'll cook whole and serve to a hungry group for $350. For a less extravagant sampling of this rich cuisine, which features spicy meats (lamb in particular), the onion bread is an absolute must and a good place to start. Follow it up with stir-fried eggplant: oily and full of rollicking flavour. Platters of lamb and potato are also divine and come piled high in steaming, ample serves. The only thing that stops the look from being classic no-nonsense Chinatown is the kitschy plastic grapevine dangling from the ceiling.
