The 'beloved local institution' look and feel of Marios is unchanged, but after last year's acceptance of soy milk, the old-school waistcoated waitstaff have added another string to their (coffee) bow: say arrivederci to Grinders, buongiorno to bespoke beans. Marios Coffee Urban Mix is batch-roasted in Fitzroy, and has a cocoa-biscuity flavour with subtle spice finish. Coffee-drinkers seeking decaf or skinny milk still need to look elsewhere, but fans of well-executed Italian classics will find much to love on the menu, including primo pasta dishes straight from nonna's repertoire.
