Mezedakia

Greek$$

Set your watch to Greek island time as you climb the stairs to Mezedakia. The food is fresh, sourced mostly from Maria Krontiris' friends' gardens (the herbs are from her own) or Oakleigh Market, but patience is required for its delivery. Dips have a robust zing while dolmades burst with moist filling. Crisp, fried mushrooms sing with lemon and garlic flavours, while saganaki can spur a fight for the last bite. Simple Greek salads dressed with Greek olive oil are a strong point, as is the seafood- whole pan-fried snapper or tender calamari curls. Effusive service is friendly though, on occasion, can be slow, but it's all part of the Mezedakia experience.
