Italian$$

In the opposite of a sea change, Anna Maria Eoclidi and Simon Venning moved their fresh pasta workshop from beachside Bronte to inner urban Surry Hills. It means they now have the space for a totally charming cafe as well, all pastel-painted wood and shelves groaning with organic arrabiata sauces. The spectacular, lever-operated La Victoria Arduino Athena Leva espresso machine pumps out a smooth, full throated Little Marionette caffe latte ($3.50), and it's all molto Italiano from the bright red Vespa at the entrance to the breakfast egg and guanciale rolls and beautiful strozzapreti pasta with bolognese ragu for lunch. Suck it up, Bronte.
