Von Haus is the former studio of painter Eugene von Guerard, who worked from this low-lit, slinky bolthole in the mid-1800s. It's the kind of hidden treasure you'll delight in taking visitors for a late-night bite or low-key lunch. The well-curated, Euro-centric chalkboard menu changes three times a day. Breakfast might be Woodside goat's curd with smashed avocado on Dench sourdough; lunch brings seasonal soups or baguettes with corned beef, prosciutto or silverside. By sundown, nibble on plump kransky sausages, kipfler potato salads and rich pates from Carlton's La Parisienne Pates while taking on the local wine list.
