Wide Open Road

Contemporary$$

From the A Minor Place crew comes Wide Open Road, a refectory-chic cafe in a former supermarket, complete with clapped-out shopping trolley art on the wall. The team roasts its own coffee, a mild yet deliciously rich brew, and the teeny kitchen turns out simple fare from a short menu: maybe a sloppy but satisfying hickory-smoked pork roll with coleslaw for lunch, or fat, dark field mushrooms with organic scrambled eggs and goat's feta on organic sourdough toast for brekkie. Service can lag at peak times, but the staff stay cool under pressure.
