Samford is the sort of place people move to escape the inner-city grind, so you don't expect to find a hip, inner-city style bar and eatery in its main street next door to a saddler and across from the produce store. It's even more surprising to find it done so well. An all-day brunch menu and a selection of tapas that demand sharing ensures a social dining experience. 'Cuca' sardines are at home with parsley salad and olive sourdough, and pair nicely with the texture of the crisp school prawns meant to be eaten whole like some kind of oceanic French fries. Real shoestring fries are also available, and come with rosemary salt and aioli. The menu seems ever-changing, and this month's scallop ceviche with avocado puree might be sugar-cured salmon with dill pickle next month but both are worth the drive, although get someone else to do the driving if you indulge in the punch affogato YaYa, served with Frangelico, Kahlua or Pedro Ximinez.
